Published on January 23, 2026

The World Bank recently concluded a technical mission to support the implementation of the Regional Climate Resilience Program (RCRP-2). Among others, the objectives were to discuss project progress and advance the implementation of activities, and agree on the concept of additional financing for the project. During the mission, a series of working meetings with the World Bank team led by the Task Team Leader and Senior Disaster Risk Management Specialist, Arati Belle, were conducted with the project’s Coordinating Unit, as well as both implementation units: The Roads Authority and the National Local Government Finance Committee. Speaking during the technical mission wrap-up session, RCRP-2 Belle said, “progress has been made by the project, but there remains room for the project to do more.” Director for Debt and Aid, Tiyamika Kanthambi, says the government is “committed to the smooth implementation of the project so that it achieves the objective of improving resilience to water-related climate shocks in Malawi.”
